You could say untooning is taking a cartoon, and showing what it would look like in real life. Untooning is the art of taking a cartoon image, and with photoshop, though I'm sure you could use something else if you found something else, and using real features from real people to make the cartoon seem real, while keeping all of it's cartoonish features. As you can see from the Mario image (assuming it's still there whenever you're reading this, otherwise you can follow the link....assuming the article is still there), Mario has all the features of a real man, yet he looks creepy as a real person, almost as if he's got some sort of deformaty. In short, the artist untoons jessica rabbit by using photos of both Angelina Jolie (Star of...you know who she is...) and Alyson Hannigan(Redhead from American Pie). I don't know, I just thought it was interesting.
